Firstly, I’m sure we’re all heartbroken, but as a very smart person once said, 'Tough times don’t last, but tough people do'. What an incredible few months we have had in the Parish of Newtowncashel....the sheer joy that Roz and Celebrity Bainisteoir has brought to so many will be always be fondly remembered.  And what about the players themselves?  Heart, passion and sheer dedication!  Paddy Doherty said to me yesterday morning, 'Hey Boss, did one of your players actually break out of an Ambulance to get back on to the field? Ya would never see that in any other sport, even bare knuckle fights!'  That sentence really sums it up.  People came from Australia, America, the UK, etc., to see the game!  The production company told me that over 7000 people attended and over 4000 of those were shouting for Cashel! I was coming in after the team at half time and young kids wanting our players autographs were being held back behind a barrier!  The show’s ratings are the highest ever, with over 700,000 people tuning in every week. Imagine that!  I know we didn’t win, but we all tried our best, only a kick of a ball in it at the end. I could write all day, but just suffice to say from the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all involved in this journey as it unfolded...CASHEL FOREVER!

All are asked to enjoy the Halloween festivities safely this Wednesday taking the feelings of others into consideration.  If you’re out trick or treating, be safe on the roads, and incorporate reflective strips into costumes!  Look after pets too, bearing in mind that they don’t like the fun and games in the same way that we do!
