REHAB LONGFORD LEADER PEOPLE OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR JACK FARRELL
Well done to John Farrell, better known as Jack, who was named as Longford Person of the Year 2011, last Friday night. John was nominated by the Newtowncashel Tidy Towns Committee.  As well was doing Trojan work for Tidy Towns, Jack has played a big part in GAA, PTAA, Neighbourhood Watch, and many other committees.  However Jack is probably better known throughout County Longford for his input into St Christopher’s Services for Persons with Intellectual Disability.  This is a tremendous achievement for Jack and for Cashel.  He was presented with two crystal trophies and a commemorative plaque.

IRISH CONVERSATION GROUP
Irish conversation groups have been in existence for a number of years throughout the country and are proving very popular with a wide range of people with varying levels of Irish speaking capabilities. These groups offer people an opportunity to meet on a weekly basis and converse through our native language. This is far removed from evening class type of learning and is a fun way to enjoy or improve your skills and love of our language, remember it is geared for all levels.
If you are interested in forming/joining such a group in Newtowncashel please contact Liam Finnegan on 086/2585656. We will be holding a meeting/social evening to chat about our plans.
