Well done to the Cashel Senior Team and their Celebrity Bainisteoir,Roz Purcell, on their fine win  in the Semi- Final of the popular R.T.E series against  Naomh Brid from Ballintra,Co.Donegal last Wednesday evening (Pippa o connor and Brian Ormond)under floodlights, at Páirc Naomh Ciaráin .This was a really unique night for the club and indeed the parish of Cashel as a whole and there was a  huge turnout of supporters for this rare spectacle.Final score was 1-9 to 0-4.
We now play Calum Best's Moy Davitts from Foxford in Co.Mayo in the Final in Parnell Park,Dublin on Friday evening the 26th of October.To reach the final is a tremendous achievement so your kind support is essential to help the boys to victory.
The team are staying in Bewleys Airport Hotel on the Friday night and there will be special discounts if you inform the desk that you are a Cashel supporter.Book early as it is on the October Bank Holiday Weekend and rooms might not be available closer to the match weekend.

We wish the Cashel Football Team  the very best when they play Granard in the County Intermediate Final in Pearse Park,this Sunday the 30th of September at 1.00 p.m.Please come out and support the lads as the seek a another victory .

The Annual General Meeting of Newtowncashel Tidy Towns will be held in 'The Hill' on Wednesday, the 3rd of October, at 8.30 p.m.
The A.G.M. will wrap up a very sussessful year and plan for the next twelve months.All members are urged to attend.

Newtowncashel Branch of The Longford Association for persons with an Intellectual Disability will hold a very important meeting on Thursday 27th September at 8.30pm in "The Hill". All members are asked to attend please.
The Annual raffle and Fundraising social in aid of St. Christopher's Day Centre will be held on Saturday 3rd November 2012 in Fallons Lounge. Tickets will be on sale shortly and your support for this very worthy cause would be very much appreciated

The Gathering Ireland 2013 will be a year -long celebration of all things Irish.The Longford Gathering Community meeting will be held,in the Longford Arms Hotel,on tuesday the 2nd of October,at 7.30 p.m.--everyone is invited.

A new book on public art in Ireland called “By the Way” by Ann Lane has been published by Wordwell Ltd.  It includes nine sculptures in Newtowncashel, in addition to a sculpture in Ardagh, four in Longford Town and one in Granard.  The book is widely available.

Newtowncashel I.C.A. host a coffee morning in 'The Hill' on Friday the 28th Sptember from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. in aid of suicide awareness.Your support will help challenge the stigma attached to mental illness.

Congratulations to Sister Brigid Clyne,Caltrabeg and  Sisters of Mercy Longford,who celebrates the Golden Jubilee of her Religious Profession on the 29th of September;1962 to 2012.

Coffee Day
The annual Hospice Coffee Day will be held in 'The Hill' on this Thursday the 20th of September from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.The organisers would appreciate the customary support and generosity.

Newtowncashel Toddler Group meets in "The Hill" every Tuesday morning from 9.45am – 12.00 noon.  All welcome!  See you there!
