CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to the basketballers from St Mary’s National School who competed in a blitz at the Mall on Saturday last, winning the event outright!  The panel were Áine Bannon, Caoimhe Flood, Ciara Healy, Conor Skelly, Daniel Farrell, Emma Casey, Eoin Mulvihill, Jamie Bermingham, Joseph Kenny, Lauren Casey, Lisa Dowd, Lochlann Healy, Molly Fox, Sarah Farrell and Seoige Mulvihill.  Well done also to Ciara Healy who was named Player of the Match! Thanks and well done too, to their mentor Joe Mulvihill.

Best of luck to Peter Foy and the County Senior Football Team, who will play Wexford in the Division 3 National Football League Final this weekend in Croke Park.

RETIREMENT
After seven years, Anna Costello has retired as Caretaker of “The Hill”.  WE thank her for keeping the premises spick and span and fresh at all times.  She and Catherine Gallagher, who continues as Hall Manager, have ensured that the hall is an inviting venue for the many activities that take place there.

NEWTOWNCASHEL TIDY TOWNS ANNUAL SPONSORED NATURE WALK
Newtowncashel Tidy Towns Annual Sponsored Nature Walk takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 7th.  Primary School Children start at 2.30pm from Derrydarragh. Under-16’s and Adults start at 2.30pm from “The Hill”.  All finish at “The Hill” Adult participants will be included in a draw for attractive prizes – full details next week.
Participants are asked to write their names on reverse of cards which should be handed in at “The Hill”.  Cards or cash cannot be accepted at Derrydarragh.
All Primary School finishers will feature in a prize draw.  Phone credit, €40, €20 and €10, for 1st, 2nd and 3rd highest INDIVIDUAL sponsorship collected by Primary School Participants. All prizes, adults, Under-16, and Children, will be presented at “The Hill”.  Refreshments will be served.
Following the refreshments the limestone sculpture in the Village will be unveiled by Adrian Greene, CEO, LCRL, at 4.00pm, approximately.

TIDY TOWNS MEETING
A Tidy Towns meeting will be held in “The Hill” on Wednesday April 25th at 8.30pm, to finalise arrangements for the Sponsored Nature Walk.

BOTTLE BANK
Substantial quantities of glass bottles and aluminium cans have been dumped recently at the bottle bank.  The Tidy Towns Committee ask that residents be vigilant and report untoward activity in the vicinity.

YOUNG PEOPLE AT EUCHARIST CONGRESS
A meeting will be held at 8.00pm on Friday April 27th, in the Youth Ministry Centre, St Mary’s Hall, Northgate Street, Althlone, to finalise details of attendance at the “Come and See IEC” youth programme and “Youth Space” in the RDS.  Interest young people are urged to attend.  Please phone (090) 647 3358 for more details, or email info@aym.ie.


ST JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS’ SOCIETY
St Joseph’s Young Priests’ Society holds its monthly meeting in “The Hill” on Tuesday April 24th at 8.30pm.  New members are welcome.

CASHEL MINOR CLUB
The Cashel Minor Club are holding a draw on May 19th and tickets for this draw are in circulation at the moment.  Your support is greatly appreciated. “VICTOR’S DUNG”
The play “Victor’s Dung” by the Moth Theatre Company will be staged in St Mary’s Hall, Lanesboro, on Saturday night April 28th at 8.30pm.  Tickets are available in Jo O’Brien’s or Chris Cullen’s.  Admission is €10 and a great night’s entertainment is assured.

SYMPATHY
We extend our sincere sympathy to the family, neighbours and friends of Mary Frances D’Alton nee Farrell, Ballinalee and formerly of Clonmee, who died on Sunday April 15th.  May she rest in peace.

SOCIAL ENTERPRISE LONGFORD
Social Enterprise Longford will conduct a seminar in the EDI Centre, Mastertech Business Park, Athlone Road, on Saturday April 28th, from 10.00am to 1.00pm.  The seminar is for sports organisations and community organisations seeing alternative means of funding.  Telephone (089) 422 1906 for details.
