EARLY MORNING DRAMA
The residents of Derrydarragh woke to the terrifying scene on Monday morning (23rd) of a crashed and burning jeep on its side in the middle of the road.  The occupant(s) of the jeep managed to escape the vehicle and fled from the scene which makes the whole situation all the more suspicious!  Thankfully the jeep wasn’t local and there were no locals injured in the incident.  Given the fact that this road leads to a high amenity area, and the road is very well used by pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders not to mention the local farming community, and residents potentially going to work at that hour, it is a blessing that nobody else was involved.

SUNDAY MORNING CYCLE
A morning cycle has been arranged for next Sunday the 29th of January at 8:45 am outside Fallon’s Pub in the village.Anyone who wishes to participate please come along as all are welcome.

COMMUNITY GAMES
Well done to our Under-12 Draughts Team who had a good win on their first outing against Granard.  They will now play Ardagh on Wednesday night.  The Under-16 Boys Table Tennis Team defeated Ardagh.  The Girls Under-13  Table Tennis Team (A) had success against Clonguish but Team B were not so lucky with Ardagh.  The Indoor Soccer Teams did not fare so well, losing out to a very strong Killashee Teams.  The girls put in a great effort and were unlucky to be defeated by a goal.
Thanks to the GAA for making their facilities available to us.

NEWTOWNCASHEL DRAMA GROUP
Newtowncashel Drama Group, now only two weeks to opening night of "Stella by Starlight" written by Bernard J Farrell, and produced by Liam Finnegan. Liam is now in his twelfth year as producer and it is no coincidence that he has been asked to take the reins once again, he does an excellent job and is liked by all. The group is well underway, with stage crew hard at work setting the scene in The Hill, of a home in the Wicklow mountains. The cast are rehearsing diligently, paying attention to the chemistry between characters that is made apparent by Bernard’s talented writing, a fling, an unsuitable boyfriend and a Debs thrown into the mix, not to mention the gunshot that the sound crew are working on. We look forward to bringing this play to life for amateur drama fans.
