PARNELL PARK BECKONS FOR ROZ AND THE CASHEL TEAM
Well the excitement is really building now in the run-up to the Celebrity Bainisteoir Final in Parnell Park this coming Friday!  Well done to Roz and the team and to all who featured in the semi-final against Naomh Bríd of Donegal, televised last Sunday evening. Yet again, Cashel and it’s people came across extremely well and we all look forward now to meeting Bohola Moy Davitt’s from Co Mayo on Friday evening!  By all accounts a large number of Cashel supporters will be there to cheer on the team!  The Final will be televised on Sunday October 28th.
The overnight bus will leave from "The Hill" at 2.00pm on Friday.  Arricing at Bewley’s Hotel at 4.00pm.  Going to “The Goblet” Pub, Malahide Road, Artane, for refreshments for 5.00pm.  The pitch is just a few minutes’ walk from “The Goblet”.  The bus will leave Dublin at 1.00pm on Saturday.
The bus returning on Friday night will leave "The Hill" at 3.00pm, arriving at “The Goblet” at 5.00pm.  The bus will return to the team hotel for a few hours after the match, before travelling home.
Bus fare must be paid when boarding the bus.  Everybody, whether travelling by bus or car, is asked to be at the pitch by 6.30pm and don’t forget your flag!!!  
ADMISSION TO THE MATCH IS FREE BUT YOU NEED TO EMAIL GAA@ANIMO.IE TO BOOK TICKETS.
In view of the numbers travelling to the Final, all are reminded to take the necessary measures to secure property and premises.  Those remaining are asked to be vigilant for suspicious or untoward activity.

NEWTOWNCASHEL DRAMA GROUP
Newtown Cashel Drama begins the season with the Annual General Meeting to be held Thursday 25th October at 8:30pm in “"The Hill"”, Newtowncashel, and we expect to offer another entertaining production for amateur drama fans.  New members are always welcome, and if anyone wishes to act, please speak up soon as parts are allocated quickly among our keen group, backstage help is also gratefully received. Newtowncashel Drama group invite you to join us for another season in the fine tradition of amateur drama.

CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS DISCO
A Children’s Fancy Dress Disco will be held in “"The Hill"” on Wednesday October 31st from 4.00pm – 7.00pm (sharp).  Admission is €2 for school-going children.  (Parents and younger siblings are free)  Refreshments will be provided for all children.  Parents are also invited to join in the fun of the occasion and dress up if they wish!  Come along and join in the fun!

SET DANCING
Set Dancing classes continues in the Lifebelt Bar, Ballyleague, on Tuesday evenings at 8.00 p.m. Why not come along to the classes for a great evening’s fun.

CASHEL GAA LOTTO
Cashel GAA’s Lotto still stands at €10,000.  There are weekly, monthly and yearly options to play your numbers.  You’ve got to be in it to win it.  Don’t forget to play your numbers every week. Last week’s winning numbers were 1, 3, 6 and 22 and there was no jackpot winner.  €30 went to Bob Carberry, and €20 each went to  Mary Sweeney, Mike Clyne and Emily Fallon c/ Fallon’s Pub.

NEWTOWNCASHEL COMMUNITY GAMES
The AGM of Newtowncashel community games took place on the 16th of October. The high levels of participation for the past year, and the many medals won at both local and county levels were discussed.  Changes to the programme at national level also filter to local level thereby requiring a certain amount of reorganisation of events.  Provisional plans for the coming year were proposed.  Officers elected are as follows: President – Mattie Reid, Chairperson – Declan Fox, Secretary -  to be filled, Treasurer – Anne Bannon, PRO – Declan Fox, Assistant PRO – Liam Bermingham, Development Officer – Martina Mulvihill, Children’s Officer – Emma Murray.
Our registration night is to be held at the GAA Clubhouse on Monday 22nd October from 7pm to 7.30 for the following – Draughts Under 10, 12, 14, Table Tennis Under 13 and Badminton Under 15.  A fee of €2.00 per child is applicable to cover administration costs. All boys and girls are welcome.
As there are a vast amount of games this year we are asking for assistance from parents.  Forms have to be with County within the next two weeks.  We look forward to another year of high participation and enjoyment.  
The Committee would also like to request copies of photos from Community Games events that anyone might have from the last 40 years for the 40th anniversary book that is being compiled.  Photos may be given to any Committee member.

TRIPLE P – POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAMME – WORKSHOP
Parents of children aged 3-8 years are invited to a FREE Triple-P Workshop on “Dealing with Disobedience” on Wednesday October 24th, from 10.00am – 12.00noon, in St Mary’s Hall, Lanesboro.  Tips include dealing with answering back, ignoring instructions, complaining and whining.  To book a place contact/text Catherine on (086) 414 3518.

"The Hill" ASSOCIATION FOR PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY
"The Hill" Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability – Newtowncashel Branch AGM  was held recently.  The outgoing Chairperson welcomed everyone and gave a comprehensive report on the activities of the branch throughout the past year.  He thanked all members for their help and support.  Thank you to all who bought and sold tickets for our fundraising activities.  The Secretary and Treasurer also gave their reports.  The following officers were elected for the coming year.
Chairperson – John Farrell, Vice-Chairperson- Seán Casey, Secretary – Michael Murray, Assistant Secretary – Anne Marie Nolan, Treasurer – Danny Ganley, Assistant Treasurer – Monica Farrell, P.R.O. – Catherine Gallagher, Delegates to Executive – John Farrell & Michael Murray. Voting Delegates – Paddy Donlon, Mary Kelly & Monica Farrell. Congratulations were extended to Martin Skelly on his election as Cathaoirleach of the GAA Leinster Council and Seán Farrell as Mayor of "The Hill".  A vote of sympathy was passed with everyone who was bereaved throughout the past year.
Tickets are now on sale for the annual fundraising social and raffle which will be held on Saturday 3rd November in Fallon’s Lounge.  Your support would be very much appreciated.  Next meeting on Wednesday 30th October at 8.00p.m. in “"The Hill"”.  All members are asked to attend, please.

NEWTOWNCASHEL TODDLER GROUP
Newtowncashel Toddler Group meets in “"The Hill"” every Tuesday morning from 9.45am – 12.00 noon.  All welcome!  See you there!

CHEERIOS CHILDLINE BREAKFAST TOGETHER
Cheerios Childline Breakfast Together Week takes place from October 8th-14th.  Newtowncashel Baby and Toddler Group will host a Breakfast Together Event in “"The Hill"” on Tuesday October 23rd.  Breakfast will be available from 7.30am – 12.00noon, if you would like to call in for a bowl of cereal or tea and toast on the way to work or school!  Your support will be greatly appreciated!! Last year Childline received a record number of calls, but due to lack of funding many calls went unanswered.  Your support will greatly help!! See you all for breakfast on the 23rd!!

SYMPATHY
WE offer our sincere sympathy to the family, friends and neighbours of Frances Whearty nee Casey, Mullingar and formerly of Derryhaun Mór, who died on October 12th.  May her soul rest in peace.

ANNUAL REGIONAL PIONEER DINNER DANCE
The Annual Regional Pioneer Dinner Dance takes place in The Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule, on Friday November 9th.  Music by the J & S Sound.  Dinner at 9.00pm, sharp.  Tickets, at €25.00 each are now available from Committee members.

REGIONAL PIONEER MEETING
A Regional Pioneer Meeting will be held in Tealach Íosa (The McGoey Hall), St Mel’s Road/Chapel Street, Longford, on Thursday October 25th, at 8.30pm to finalise arrangements for the Annual Dinner Dance and the Annual Mass for Deceased Pioneers.

COUNTY LONGFORD RURAL TRANSPORT.
There are a number of spaces available on some of the services, so we would encourage people from that area to avail of the services to keep it activated in that region. The Services are Flexible and Demand Responsive. “If you don’t use it – you lose it”. Fares are: Single €3. Return €5. ALL Age Groups are welcome to travel and the Free Travel Pass is accepted.
Once weekly O/W Service No.13&13A (Tuesday & Saturday) to LONGFORD is provided by Bernie Hackett: 087-2502186.
Once weekly O/W Service No.19 (Friday) to LANESBORO, provided by Farrelly’s Coaches: 043-3322222.
Once fortnightly O/F Service (No.17) (FRIDAY) to BALLYMAHON is provided by Anthony O’Haire: 087-9004876. This route comes from Portnaure-Pollagh-Newtowncashel direction into Ballymahon, BUT can deviate, to facilitate any passenger who wish to travel to Ballymahon for shopping or on business (Banking etc).  Note: The Once fortnightly O/F Service No.17  to Ballymahon on Friday has spaces available and does need support and a greater uptake. The Service is “Flexible” and “Demand Responsive”.

CAIRDE COMHRA
Anyone interested in "recalling" all the "Gaeilge" that’s buried deep in the old brain come along to "The Hill" this Thursday Oct 18th at 8.30p.m. We are all beginners, so we can all "recall" together. All ages are welcome.

NEW COURSE OF CIRCUITS STARTING NEXT WEEK
The class involves a variety of exercises to get you fit quick and tone up everywhere!  Stations will include Hula Hooping which is lots of fun and effective for toning hips, bums, tums and backs! 8pm class starting in "The Hill" Mon 22nd October through to 10th Dec. €8 pay as you go or pay upfront for the full 7 weeks for only €40.  7pm course will start on 5th November through to 10th Dec. €8 pay as you or €35 upfront. HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Congratulations and Happy Birthday to Pat Hopkins, Pollagh, who celebrated his 80th birthday on the 14th October!

DO THIS IN MEMORY
The Do This In Memory preparation programme for First Confession and First Holy Communion gets into full swing on Sunday the 28th of October at 10.30 am Mass.  The children and their parents will participate in the mass that morning.

TEENAGE MASS
Four members of parish personnel attended a pastoral “think in” on September 6th. In response to feedback from that meeting the Parish Pastoral Council has proposed that a Mass facilitating teenage involvement and participation be arranged.  Towards that end a meeting will be held in the Church after mass on Friday November 2nd.  Second level students and all who are supportive of this initiative are invited to attend.

STATION MASSES
The Autumn Station Masses will be celebrated from during the month of October.  Householders who are to host the Station Masses, may arrange dates when convenient if they have not already done so.  The upcoming Stations are as follows:
Streamstown, Caltrabeg & Ballina, at the home of Seamus Farrell, on Tuesday October 23rd.
Derrygowna, at the home of Margaret and Patrick Brennan, on Thursday October 25th.
Greenhall Upper, Aughnacross, Aughavadden & Carrowdunican, at the home of Gabrielle Collins, on Monday October 29th.
Derryhaun Mór, at the home of Carmel and Brian Donlon, on Tuesday October 30th.
Confessions at 7.45pm.  Mass at 8.00pm.

ROSARY RECITATION
The Rosary will not be recited in the Church on Friday October 26th.
