THANK YOU
The Tidy Towns Sponsored Nature Walk made a profit of €964.00 while the subsequent Church gate collection brought in €460.  The committee sincerely thanks the organisers and the contributors.  These amounts will contribute to the cost of the new lighting system in the Village.  It is hoped that the installation of the new lighting system and the undergrounding of electricity lines can proceed in the coming months.

JOHN WATERS VISIT TO NEWTOWNCASHEL,
After the successful launch night concert for the Lough Ree Summer Festival, in the quarry in Laneborough, Mr Waters stayed at the Woodcutters Lodge B & B.  He showed great interest in the area and he and Rita were given a tour of Newtowncashel, including the quarry, Saints Island, Ladywell and Elfeet.  He was especially interested in the history of Saints Island and the quarry. He expressed a wish to bring some visitors to view the quarry to show them what can be done, as there is a derelict quarry near his home in Dublin, to which they want to develop.  So we can look forward to more visits to NTC in the near future.
