HAPPY ST PATRICK’S DAY
We wish all readers of the Local Notes at home and abroad a Happy St Patrick’s Day!  Enjoy the festivities wherever you are and please celebrate safely!  

ST MARY’S NATIONAL SCHOOL ENROLMENT
St Mary’s National School Enrolment for September 2012 takes place from March 5th – 16th.  Enrolment packs can be collected from the school and relevant forms returned during this period.

GAA TABLE QUIZ
Cashel GAA will hold a table quiz in Fallon’s on Sunday March 18th.  Your support would be very much appreciated.  A great night’s entertainment is assured!

RATHCLINE LADIES
The Rathcline Ladies Club are hosting a Senior Ladies Memorial match in honour of the late Alison (Ali) Smyth on Sunday 18th March in Clonbonny at 5.30pm V Garrycastle.   Refreshments will be held in the Club House after the Game and admission is optional.  

COMMUNITY GAMES
Newtowncashel will host the County Finals of the Community Games Talent Competition in “The Hill” at 12.30pm on Monday 19th of March.  All are welcome!
Well done to everyone who took part in our recent Art and Modelling competition.  The results are as follows -

The winners of the Art and Modelling go forward to the county final in Carrickedmond on Fri March 23rd at 6pm. The Handwriting Competition will be held in Killoe on Wed 21st, 7.30-8.45 pm.  Good luck to everyone!  
Under-13 Basketball will be starting soon.  Dates to follow.

CAIRDE BEAG
Enrolment is now open for September 2012. We offer the ECCE Scheme (free pre-school year), the CETS Scheme (VEC/FAS Trainees), Afterschool and Childminding. LOURDES PILGRIMAGE

Details regarding the special section for the sick from Rev. Michael Scanlon PP, Cloghan, Birr, Co Offaly.  The organisers request the names of sick people who would like to join the pilgrimage.  Names should be submitted as soon as possible please to Elizabeth Clyne (043) 332 5156.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament continues on Wednesdays from 3.00pm to 9.00pm.  Thanks to those who give their time to quiet prayer.  Others are invited to join them.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS
The Stations of the Cross is a devotion that may be performed at any time of year but is particularly suited to the Lenten Season.  Instead of the Rosary, the Way of the Cross will be followed on the Fridays of Lent at 7.30pm.  All are urged to make a special effort to participate in this traditional devotion.

LENTEN MASSES
During Lent, Mass will be celebrated at 7.00am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  This arrangement will give a greater number of people an opportunity to come to Mass during Lent.

TALKS ON THE EUCHARIST
Six presentations on different aspects of the Eucharist will be given in the Pastoral Centre, St Mel’s College, on the Wednesdays of Lent.  The third presentation takes place on Wednesday March 14th at 8.00pm.  All are welcome.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be administered by Bishop O’Reilly on Tuesday March 20th, at 4.00pm.
First Holy Communion, Sunday May 13th, 12.00 noon.

SENIOR ALTAR SERVERS REHEARSAL FOR CONFIRMATION
A Senior Altar Servers practice for Confirmation will be held in the Church on Tuesday March 13th, at 6.00pm.  All senior servers and three retired servers who have siblings for Confirmation are requested to attend please.

CÁIRDE COMHRA
The Irish language conversation group are meeting in the Hill at 8am on this and every Thurs night. All members please attend and new members are always welcome.
For all lovers of the language an interesting programme called Bernard Dunne Bród continues each week  at 7.30pm on RTE 1. Bernard only started to learn Gaelic recently and is an inspiration to many. Hope you will have a look at it.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
The Parish Pastoral Council will meet in “The Hill” on Wednesday March 28th, at 8.30pm.  All members are asked to attend please.

SPRING STATION MASSES
Fr Brady wishes to extend his appreciation and thanks, for their welcome, hospitality and generosity, to the thirteen households who hosted the Spring Station Masses.  A feature on this occasion was the number of young couples who took the Station for the first time – a trend which augurs well for the future of the tradition.

NEWTOWNCASHEL TODDLER GROUP
Newtowncashel Toddler Group continues to meet every Tuesday morning in “The Hill” from 9.45am – 12.15pm.  Please feel free to join us anytime!

COMMUNITY GAMES QUIZ
Congratulations to the Under 14 Mixed Quiz Teams who did so well at the County Final recently.  Both teams were brilliant and a credit to the parish of Cashel.  Team B came away as overall victors and will represent Longford in the All Ireland Finals in Athlone in May.  Team A were third, and then only after two tiebreakers, and were only beaten by 1 point.  The teams were:   Seoighe Mulvihill, Sarah Farrell, Brian Kelly, Eoin Mulvihill, Jamie Bermingham; Patrick Farrell, Aine Bannon, Molly Fox, Naimh Skelly, Niall Casey and Lauren Casey.
