Our second Annual Parish Barbeque took place on Sunday evening at the Quarry Park. Just as last year, it was very well attended and a great success. Our Celebrity Bainisteoir was in town for the second Celebrity Training Session last Thursday evening. There were certainly more observers at this training session than normally attend!
OnAugust 14th Roz will have to compete against her rival Jessica Lawlor, who is Bainisteoir for Ballinora in Cork, to see who gets home advantage for our first match, which takes place on September 2nd. Fingers crossed that it goes our way!
The monthly Tidy Towns meeting takes place in "The Hill" on Wednesday August 8th at 8.30pm.
Good luck to Michael Kenny, Newpark, whose Connemara colt foal is entered in the Inaugural Connemara Pony Show at Cavan Equestrian Centre on Sunday August 12th.

Tax Reclaim forms for 2011 and explanatory letters have been issued. Thanks to those who have already completed and returned their papers. The early receipt of remaining forms would be greatly appreciated.
LONGFORD VEC COURSE
Co Longford VEC is offering “Advanced Certificate in Supervisory Management” FETAC Level 6 (part time). This course is provided free under the back to education initiative and is particularly suited to unemployed people who have already worked in a supervisory capacity. Saints’ Island Cemetery, August 19th; Cashel Cemetery, August 26th. Mass and Prayers for the Dead, 6.00pm. These Masses will replace the 10.30am Mass in the Church.
Pattern Day will be celebrated at Lady Well, Derrydarragh, on Saturday September 8th, the Feast of the Birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mass follows the recitation of the Rosary at 6.00pm. This Mass will replace the Saturday evening Mass in the Church.
