St Mary's National School's Clothing Collection takes place this Friday the 2nd of December.Bags of unwanted clothes,footwear etc.(dry and clean) can be left at the school gate before 9.30 a.m. or in the girl's shed at the back of the school(Village side).We ask that you make a special effort this time,for the School Building Fund  €5.00 per 10kg bag will be generated.Please support.

Congratulations to Brid Killian and James Hanley on the recent birth of their baby son.

The annual Fast and Church gate collection takes place on December 10th and 11th your support would be seriously appreciated.

The Annual Christmas Day Run from Newtowncashel to Lanesborough in aid of the Longford branch of MS Ireland is now in it's 26th year. Over the years it has raised much needed funds for Longford MS and last year over 140 walkers and runners took part. We are again asking for your continued support this year and hopefully we'll be able to further increase the number of participants and sponsorship for what is a very worthy cause. Sponsorship cards are available in the Local or O'Briens in Lanesborough or for further details please contact Michael Flood (Tel: 086-0880855).

There will be a Junior Choir Practice ,this Sunday the 27th of
November,directly after 10.30 a.m. Mass. This practice,together with ones
on every Sunday, in Advent,at the same time,is in preparation for Christmas

The death occurred of Paddy Mc Ardle, Cormaglova,on Wednesday the 23rd of November last .Paddy was one of life's true gentleman,who had a kind word for everyone that he met.He had a great sense of humour and his passing will leave a great void in the lives of those knew and loved him.To his his wife Bernie, daughters Sharon, Dymphna and Patricia, sons John, Jason and Mel, brothers Sonny, Michael (Dublin) and Liam, sisters Bridgie, Annie-May and Eileen, and all his many relatives and friends,we extend our deepest sympathy. May his Soul Rest in Peace.
Also sincere sympathy to the Murray Family on the recent death of John Joe Murray, may he rest in peace.

Santa Claus will arrive at The Local in the Village at 3.30 p.m. on Sunday the 18th of December.If it's as good as last year,then it will be a wonderful family afternoon for all.

Classes commenced on Tuesday 20th September in St. Failtheachs GAA club house at 8pm.
Classes are suitable for beginners and you dont need a partner.

Art classes in Ballymahon are to re-commence in October with Tutor Frances Kelleher. Beginners classes on Tuesday mornings and Improvers in the evenings, time to be decided. Looking for a career focused course? Then enrol on Longford College of Further Education’s 1 year Tourism with Business programme starting September 2016. Ireland is going through a tourism regeneration with employment potential from Center Parcs and from initiatives such as The Wild Atlantic Way, The Greenway Cycle Project and Ireland’s Ancient East project. The course offers practical business skills for the workplace as well as accreditation from Quality Qualifications Ireland and awards up to 400 CAO points for progression to third level institutions. This course is free to those in receipt of BTEA or who qualify for a SUSI grant* and to holders of a medical card. The registration fee and government levy is €330 for all other students. Macra are looking for young people to join a new Macra club. Macra is a non profit organisation for young people 17-35,it has 6 key activities such as Agriculture,Sports,Performing Arts,Travel,Public Speaking and Community Involvoment. You dont need to be a farmer to join.
