The Annual Christmas Day Run from Newtowncashel to Lanesborough in aid of the Longford branch of MS Ireland is now in it's 26th year. Over the years it has raised much needed funds for Longford MS and last year over 140 walkers and runners took part. We are again asking for your continued support this year and hopefully we'll be able to further increase the number of participants and sponsorship for what is a very worthy cause. There will be a Junior Choir Practice ,this Sunday the 27th of November,directly after 10.30 a.m. Mass. This practice,together with ones on every Sunday, in Advent,at the same time,is in preparation for Christmas Masses.

Newtowncashel Defibrillator Group,hold their A.G.M. in The Hill,on this Thursday the 24th of November,at 8.00 p.m. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

The death occurred of John Joe Murry,formerly of Caltra,on Tuesday the 15th of November last.To hisbrothers Michael and Thomas, sister Kathleen, wife and family,and all his many relatives and friends,we extend our deepest sympathy in their time of loss .May his Soul Rest in Peace.

The Newtowncashel Committee of the P.T.A.A. would like to thank everyone who contributed to their recent Church Gate Collection. Also,a big thank you to the large number of people from our parish who attended the regional dinner dance in the Rustic Inn on Friday the 11th of November last. After a beautiful meal, we had T.R. Dallas and his band to supply the music for the dancing. A great night was had by all. A reminder that the Annual Pioneer Mass for deceased members,of the Pioneer Association,will be held in Ballycloghan Church,this Friday night the 18th of November at 7.00 p.m.

There will be a Table Quiz in aid of  in The Pier, Lisnacusha, on Friday the 9th of December, at  9.00 p.m. Proceeds go towards Tables of four €40.00.Raffle on the night.Your kind support would be appreciated.

The death occurred of Beatrice Bawle,Loughawn.To her grieving family and friends,we extend our deepest sympathy in their time of loss.May her Soul Rest in Peace.

A Benefit Card Game will be held in Kenagh Community Centre, on Thursday the 15th pf December 2016. This game is for Peadar Mc Garry,from Kenagh,who was injured in an accident,3 months ago. It is a very slow healing process for him.We hope the local people will support this good cause.Tickets can be got in the Local Pub in Cashel,or from Packie Feeney at 086 3963292 or from Fr.Tom Barden P.P. Kenagh or Mary Moran,Kenagh P.O.. If you buy a ticket ,and cannot go,you can put your name on the ticket as there will be a special prize. Thanking you all.

Art classes in Ballymahon are to re-commence in October with Tutor Frances Kelleher. Beginners classes on Tuesday mornings and Improvers in the evenings, time to be decided. Ireland is going through a tourism regeneration with employment potential from Center Parcs and from initiatives such as The Wild Atlantic Way, The Greenway Cycle Project and Ireland’s Ancient East project. The course offers practical business skills for the workplace as well as accreditation from Quality Qualifications Ireland and awards up to 400 CAO points for progression to third level institutions. This course is free to those in receipt of BTEA or who qualify for a SUSI grant* and to holders of a medical card. The registration fee and government levy is €330 for all other students. Macra are looking for young people to join a new Macra club. Macra is a non profit organisation for young people 17-35,it has 6 key activities such as Agriculture,Sports,Performing Arts,Travel,Public Speaking and Community Involvoment. You dont need to be a farmer to join.
