The monthly meeting takes place in “The Hill” on Tuesday 11th, at 8:30 p.m. Please note day and date. Well done to the volunteers who turned out for the work evenings on Wednesday and Thursday. They cleared the debris left by the wind and rain of recent weeks.

Broadband - “Fibrepower your Community”. Following a promising beginning a further meeting
of those interested in the Eircom broadband competition/project will be held in “The Hill” on
Thursday 13th, at 8.30 p.m.

A Table Quiz will be held in “The Local” on Friday 14th, at 9.30 p.m., in aid of Cycle Against Suicide. Tables of 4, €40.00 per table. Proceeds will go directly to the movement’s second level schools’ programme which promotes the message that ‘it’s ok not to feel ok’ and ‘it’s abso-lutely ok to ask for help’.

The Senior football team had a good and indeed vital win the the Championship last Friday when defeating Young Grattans in a game played at Clonbonny,Lanesboro. Final score was 3-13 to 0-8.

Upcoming events in The Local pub are; Friday the 14th of August..Table Quiz in aid of Cycle Against Suicide at 9.30 p.m.
Sunday the 16th of August....BBQ with live music by Andy Feery from 5.30 p.m. in aid of Sudden Adult Deatjh Syndrome  (The Mater Heart Foundation.)

Cashel Community Games will be presenting field and track, handwriting and Art medals on  this Thursday the 13th of august in the hill at 8pm.
There will also be a small presentation to the nine children who are competing in the National Finals in Athlone in August.
Cashel Community Games want to wish the very best of luck to Mary Skelly and her U14 table quiz team of Conor Skelly, Joseph Kenny, Daniel Farrell, Luke Mulvihill, Mark Brehon and Cathy Kelly in the national finals also
to Harry Murray U12 Art, Emmett Murtagh U10 handwriting, Matt Steadman U14 Long jump and Conor Skelly in U14 Shot putt.

The Parish Pastoral Council are in the process of organising a Farewell Celebration for Fr. Brady as he leaves Cashel, after 21 years, to take up his new appointment as P.P. Clonmacnois (Shannonbridge). The event will take place on Saturday 22nd August with Mass of Thanksgiving in the Church at 8.00 p.m. followed by refreshments and a presentation in “The Hill”. The Pastoral Council extends an invitation to all.

Congratulations to Karen Casserly and Cathal Hilliard who were married on Saturday, 1st August.
Karen is a member of the teaching staff of St. Mary’s N.S.

Cistercian College, Roscrea, from Thursday 13th – Sunday 16th
August. For young people aged 16-35, an opportunity to find out what the Catholic faith is all
about in a friendly, chilled-out atmosphere. The festival is donation only. Free buses available

The Harvest Festival will be held in Newtowncashel on Sunday the 23rd of August, commencing at 12.00 noon. This will be the festival's third consecutive visit to Newtowncashel, thanks to the availability and suitability of the site and the success of the event on the two previous occasions. A group trip to the Fr Peyton Memorial Centre in Attymaas. Co Mayo takes place on Tuesday the 22nd of August 2015. The cost of the trip is €30 which includes bus fare ,tea and scones on arrival, lunch and entertainment. Bus will depart from Kenagh Village at 9.30 am and returns to Kenagh at 6pm approx. Walking / jogging groups - Every Tuesday and Thursday nights at 9 pm from 'The Local'. Everybody welcome.

Longford Community Resources Ltd, have a vacancy, under the Rural Social Scheme ,for a maintainance person,based at Cashel Cemetery, to start immediately.The position entails, grass cutting, strimming and keeping the Cemetery Tidy. To qualify for the Scheme, the person must be in receipt of a social protection payment,and have an active herd number. The Irish Hospice Foundation is now seeking to appoint experienced, energetic people to raise funds in the local area through a variety of fundraising activities canvassing for donors who are willing to support its work through regular monthly payments. These positions are self-employed long term. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role which will involve a variety of fundraising activities. Full training will be provided. The Irish Cancer Society’s Care to Drive service is currently seeking volunteer drivers to drive local patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments. We are looking for volunteers to pick patients up at their homes, drive them to the door of the hospital, pick them up when they are finished their treatment and bring them home again. Pattern Day will be celebrated at Lady Well, Derrydarragh,on Saturday the 5th of September. Mass follows recitation of The Rosary at 6.00 p.m.
